"I empower individuals to turn towards their pain to find healing, instead of running away to endure long-term suffering"
"Thank you for taking the time to watch"
Living with an eating disorder can feel like being caught in an unrelenting whirlwind of thoughts and behaviors centered around food, weight, and body image. Many individuals describe their experience as an ongoing internal battle, where their mind is hijacked by an incessant need to count calories, adhere to strict dietary rules, and grapple with an intense fear of gaining weight. This all-consuming fixation often leaves little room for other aspects of life, creating a sense of detachment from the world around them. While the disorder may initially offer a deceptive sense of control or accomplishment, it ultimately breeds feelings of guilt, shame, and anxiety, particularly during meals or social gatherings involving food.
The physical toll of an eating disorder can be both draining and agonizing. On an emotional level, the journey is often characterized by severe mood fluctuations, depression, and a gradual erosion of self-esteem. Many describe a profound sense of disconnection from their own bodies and emotions, as if their true self has been overshadowed by the disorder. However, amidst these daunting challenges, there is hope. Recovery is within reach, and with the guidance of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, individuals can embark on a journey of healing. Through mental health services, dedicated support and tailored treatment, it is possible to reclaim one's life from the grasp of an eating disorder, rediscover one's authentic self, and cultivate a more positive and balanced relationship with food and body image.

Getting to know each other in therapy is crucial for building a powerful therapeutic relationship. This relationship can support your personal growth, challenge you, help you to gain insights, and overall enhance the effectiveness of therapy. Here are three steps to facilitate this process:
Initial Conversations:
We will begin with having open and honest conversations about your background, experiences, and current concerns. We will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, what your goals are, and any specific issues you wish to address.
Clarify Expectations: We will discuss what your expectations are for therapy and what you hope to achieve. I will regularly ask for feedback on how sessions are going and make any adjustments to ensure your therapy process is comfortable and effective.
Consistency and Reliability: Regular attendance and consistent engagement in therapy helps build trust and reliability. Being honest and vulnerable about your experiences will help foster a deeper connection and create a more genuine rapport.
